The project involved installation of ASSAB modular laboratory furniture to the 3rd Floor Imaging for the Immunovirology Department. This included a variety of special cupboards, shelving and benching for Tissue Culture areas. A fume cupboard was also installed.

St Mary’s Research Building, which houses two Institutes, The Wright Fleming Institute for the study of Infection and , Immunity (WFI) and the Geoffrey Rose Institute of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (GRI), have become the focus for developing a critical mass of world class researchers in the field of Infection, Immunity, epidemiology and biostatistics. Additionally the Wellcome Trust has recently reaffirmed its support for the Centre for Clinical Tropical Infectious Diseases Research which relocated from Northwick Park in 2002.

The WFI includes the Jefferies Trust Laboratories, Departments of Virology & Cell Biology, Respiratory Medicine, Hepatology, Immunology, Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Infectious Disease Epidemiology. Areas of scientific interest within the WFI includes HIV, HFV, HTLV, Epstein Barr Virus, Meningitis, TB, Hepatitis, influenza and other lesser known bacterial and viral research themes.

The GRI brings together experts in epidemiology and biostatistics, with a focus on excellence in quantitative population-based research. The GRI’s focus areas are developing strategies for the prevention and control of common diseases through epidemiogical studies, investigating the effects of environmental pollution through the analysis of small area health statistics; and to improve the evidence base underlying clinical and population interventions through large-scale clinical trials.
